All Aboard! A New Model Railroad Club Is Taking Shape in Monroe–West Monroe

Have a train enthusiast in the family? Here’s a chance to help a new local club get rolling!

The Monroe-West Monroe Model Railroad Club is inviting interested community members to its founders' meeting on Tuesday, November 10, at 5:30 p.m. The Biedenharn Museum and Gardens has graciously offered its Education Building as the gathering place for this first meeting.

For families who love tiny towns, winding tracks, and watching a train round the bend, this is an opportunity to learn about a new club—and share in the excitement from the beginning.

Big Plans for Little Trains

The club’s plans include HO, O, and N scale layouts, plus an outdoor G scale layout. If those letters sound like a secret railroad code, they simply describe different sizes of model trains!

Model railroading brings together storytelling, history, engineering, art, and plenty of imagination. Building a miniature railroad can mean designing scenery, measuring track, researching real trains, or dreaming up an entire community around the station.

For parents and homeschool educators, those interests offer plenty of connections to learning. Ask your young train fan: What would your railroad carry? Where would it travel? What would you build along the tracks?
