Fall Break, Big Fun! Your Monroe–West Monroe Family Adventure List

Boredom Busters: Horseback riding, spooky science, bowling, and a brand-new library to explore?

By Missy Robertson, Publisher Macaroni KID Monroe-West Monroe October 8, 2026

School’s taking a break, but the fun certainly isn’t! Whether you need a camp for the kiddos, an afternoon adventure, or a little time to yourself, Northeast Louisiana has plenty of ways to keep everyone smiling. Macaroni KID Monroe–West Monroe has rounded up some Fall Break ideas to help you hear a little less “I’m bored!” and a lot more “Can we do that again?”

Three Local Stops We Love

There’s always fun at the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum! Let the kiddos explore, play, and follow their curiosity. A museum outing is a great way to sneak in some learning during the break—no worksheets required.

Kiroli Park is now open! Pack a picnic, grab your walking shoes, and make time for some outdoor family fun. Keep it simple: let the kids lead a nature scavenger hunt, look for interesting leaves, or enjoy an afternoon together.

And PLEASE go visit the new Ouachita Parish Public Library Main Branch! Located at 1000 Oliver Road in Monroe, this is a real treat for families. Explore your new library, let everyone choose a book, and start a Fall Break reading adventure. Who says you need a suitcase to go somewhere new? Sometimes a library card does the trick!
