Macaroni KID Monroe–West Monroe was honored to be invited to the Living Well Foundation Annual Business Meeting. It’s an event we always look forward to because it’s filled with good news — hearing firsthand how grantors are positively changing our community with the support of the Living Well Foundation.
At the Annual Business Meeting held in late October, we celebrated another impactful year, including the success of the 2025 Grant Cycle, which distributed $858,282 to approximately 28 local nonprofits in 8 parishes. These grants support a wide range of services — from cancer screenings to youth programs like the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana’s Al’s Pals and Signs of Suicide, Life Choices Mobile Pregnancy Center, Kiroli Park’s Amphitheater, 16 school-based healthcare centers, and so much more.
The Foundation also continues its dementia and Alzheimer’s education and simulation initiative, designed to help healthcare providers and caregivers better understand what it feels like to live with memory loss. This year marks Phase 3 of the program, which began with an educational expert for the region and has expanded to include clinicians and medical residents at St. Francis Medical Center, Ochsner LSU Monroe, and VCOM, in partnership with ULM’s School of Allied Health. The program is creating a ripple effect of empathy and understanding throughout our healthcare & caregiver community.
We've also got an update from Pinnacle Family Health about the reopening of 4 state-of-the-art dental stations, a project previously funded by the Living Well Foundation. Families can begin scheduling dental appointments starting November 17, 2025, and this is especially meaningful because Pinnacle Family Health accepts Medicaid, private pay, private insurance, and offers a sliding scale based on income.
Under Alice Prophit’s leadership, the Living Well Foundation continues to listen, care, and invest where it matters most — right here at home.

The Living Well Foundation is a non-profit public charity that was established upon the sale of a local public hospital in 2006. Its goals are to enhance the quality of life and health of the citizens of Ouachita Parish and the 7 surrounding parishes and to assist in collaborative and innovative networking within the region.
The Living Well Foundation supports several projects in the northeast Louisiana area that seek to improve the medical, dental, and behavioral health of the population, especially kids. Specific initiatives include dental hygiene clinics with the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) Department of Dental Hygiene, suicide prevention/intervention, and school-based health centers with local school boards and medical providers, including federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and others.
Other projects that provide behavioral health support services on school campuses and in communities are supported by area non-profit agencies and clinical professionals.
